The farm gate blog is a production of the Agricultural and Consumer Economics Department of the University of Illinois, and is created five times per week for the benefit of farm decision-makers in the Cornbelt. The updates address marketing, farm business economics, crop and livestock production and agricultural policy, and originate from sources within the Land Grant University system and the US Department of Agriculture. These sources contain a wealth of knowledge that is inconspicuous to most farm decision makers, and the purpose of the farm gate is to shed light on the information and condense it into a “quick read” for busy farmers.
